We are all about paper recycling

Paper recycling is about making a difference – to our environment, to our economy and how we treat our waste. Is it waste if it has a value?

The Paper Recycling Association of South Africa (PRASA) promotes a conscientious attitude towards paper recycling and efficient waste separation in businesses, homes and schools. By advocating for a culture of environmental and waste consciousness, millons of tonnes of recyclable paper are diverted from landfill.

This in turn supports job creation and local manufacturing, while making effective use of an alternative fibre in papermaking. South Africa is a water-scarce country with limited hectares of land available for timber plantations which is why paper recycling has always been essential to ensure a sustainable local paper industry.

The association represents processors and manufacturers of recycled paper fibre. PRASA promotes a culture of recycling by driving education and awareness programmes within schools, engaging with business and government. Separation at source is key to ensuring the recovery of good quality paper fibre.

PRASA falls under the Paper Manufacturers Association of South Africa
